Clean, comfortable airy albeit minimalist rooms. Top floor covered terrace, elevator, adequate buffet breakfast. Helpful staff. Walking distance to Vatican, numerous neighborhood eateries. Near the Tiber, but no real views. Recommend.

Very poor service. Too expensive. Room small, toilet did not flush properly, shower screen broken, no water provided in room, no toiletries (just a liquid soap dispenser), paper cups. Room too warm Breakfast good, bed comfortable. If you want very average, then stay here - never again for me!

As we stayed at the hotel in November, I cannot comment on the air-conditioning. We really liked the hotel a lot. The room was definitely large enough. The bathroom was large enough for us. The breakfast room and meal were nice, welcoming and fun with the different languages of Europe being spoken. Contrary to a previous review what was so nice in fact was that Casa Valdese is in a neighborhood called The Prati. It is not in a crowded tourist area but certainly close enough. Walking in Rome is a pleasure, there is so much to see and experience, it was in fact a pleasure to walk a little further to the tourist areas...and then a pleasure to leave them. The Prati has restaurants for the people who live in that area. The food is great, and again, much better than what you find in the heavy tourist areas, many of them are not good. The hotel staff was very friendly and spoke multiple languages. If you like the tourist vibe and the luxury hotels that you like in the US (I am American) this may not be the hotel for you. If you want a good hotel in a great area of Rome, I highly recommend it.

Room was small and very warm!Could not adjust the temperature.Bathroom had no room to put toiletries. Shower had no shelves to hold toiletries. Location was not ideal to get to or come back from major attractions. Metro failed to be useful!

Spartan, spotless, wonderful and helpful staff, and a well-located, European-style hotel. In an area of many schools and students. The other guests are often German-speaking and students. The friendly and competent front desk staff can provide services in English. Go to the rooftop patio with your own bottle of wine! Buy glasses of wine (3 Euros) at the hotel - it is an honour system for payment. Take public busses - the stop is 1-2 blocks away - directly to historic and tourist sites (Examples: bus 87 to the Colosseum/Forum/Paletine Hill.; bus 280 stops in front of the Vatican). Only 2 negatives are: 1. no refrigerator in the room and; 2. room temperature is centrally controlled (so you cannot adjust it).
